I should probably highlight a more lucrative part of what I do, like adding a "commercial videos" category, but hey I value artistic work more than anything, and working on skateboarding-related projects has always brought me joy and artistic purpose, so here it is!
When I was a punk teenager I discovered that my passion was filming and editing, and to become an editor or a director, I had to start somewhere. My friends were all either musicians, artists, or skateboarders: so I started documenting them. I edited their skateboarding videos, I helped film them, and finally, my screenplay about a group of skateboarders won a grant so I produced my first film Skaterz. It was the first movie ever made about skateboarding in Italy and it sold-out theaters. From there I went on to direct and produce all kinds of videos but skateboarding has always come back into my life one way or another, either as a film festival organizer or juror, a photographer, a director, a producer, a curator, or a contributor for publications.
Here's a selection of my skateboarding-related works, ordered by year:
Skaterz - documentary, 2001. The first film I directed, wrote, and edited.
MTV I'm Different - TV commercial, 2004. Direction, screenplay, and camera.
Underskatement film festival - Milano, 2008. I brought to Italy the first film festival, born in San Francisco, with videos directed by skateboarders. I curated, organized, and produced the event.
Supercharged - European premiere, Milano, 2009. I brought to Italy the documentary Supercharged by Pete Koff. I subtitled the film and produced the event.
Maliceous X Peas & Carrots - commercial, 2012. Directed, edited, and animated with my friend Twesh in Los Angeles. Starring Jimmy Gorecki, Dev, Anvar Carrots, Casey Veggie.
Skating with the BSG crew - TV series for Discovery/RealTime, 2017. Episodic series about the all-female Italian skateboarding crew BSG I directed, filmed, and produced.
Milano Tribe - Documentary series for La Triennale, 2019. A series of four videos I directed, edited, and produced, that unveil the Milanese skateboard scene through the eyes of some of its protagonists. The lack of color correction isn't my fault, the commissioner wanted it like that!
